The photo above is of a trunk hinge that was developed for use on mid-size sedans. This hinge is a 4 bar mechanism. It utilizes a drag link and an extension spring for lift assist. This design included a full kinematics analysis, development of software to quickly evaluate different geometries, theoretical structural analysis, finite element analysis and prototype builds.
